Reservoir Dogs, Diamonds

During the Reservoir dogs movie, they mention having a load of diamonds, and having that, I thought I could work with it, messing about with different of producing diamonds for the poster, below are a load of ideas I came up with for the design;

I cam up with a load of different ideas, sticking to the colour pallet, but messing about with different shapes.

These where my first initial ideas, simple shape, with shapes fitted inside, filled with the colours that represent the characters, and then tried using just the outline to replace the filling.

Don't feel the white images work as well as the coloured designs.

I feel I need the colours to help represent characters from the movie.

I came up with the idea of using a a set of diamonds, each one representing a character from the movie,

once again tried filled and tried the outline, but don't feel this has the same effect as a single,

not as much space to mess about with on these designs for the type to go.

Taking the first idea of the single diamond, but just giving it a little tweek here and there, making the shapes a little different.

Feel these are working well, but there is alot more I can do with them, see below.

This is a personal favourite, two shades of each colour used, but with not out line, so they join up and feel the colours work nice together.

Bringing in some extra lines making a big different, the image above is a favourite, using two shades of each colours, to make the diamond seem more realistic.

Compared to the others I have designed these are very weak designs,

Just tried to do something a little bit more simple, but it didn't pay off very well.

One reason I feel the two above don't work is, the white and brown are two large and stand out and take to much away from the other colours.

I thought I would change the width and height of the diamond, experiment about with it,

and then the idea came of turning the diamond into a tie, but I don't feel that payed off very well.

Overall, the diamonds work well, some work alot better than others, but that is with most designs, some will work and some won't.
